## FAQ

**How do I calculate my wedding cost per guest?**

Divide your total wedding budget by the number of guests you invite, counting each person once. In the Anaya & Rohan example, a $120,000 budget for 300 guests is $400 a guest. The calculator does the division and shows the result in your currency.

**What is the average wedding cost per guest?**

The Knot's 2026 Real Weddings Study, which surveyed 10,474 US couples married in 2025, puts the average at $292 per guest, up $8 from 2024. The same study found an average wedding cost of $34,000 and an average of 117 guests. That describes one wedding, mostly one ceremony and reception, so a multi-day wedding will often land higher.

**How do I work out the cost per guest for a multi-day wedding?**

Count each guest once for the headline number, then divide by the number of events too. Per guest, per event = total budget / (guests x events), which assumes every guest comes to every event. Anaya & Rohan's $120,000 for 300 guests over 4 events is $100 per guest, per event. If some events have smaller guest lists, the real cost per head at those events is higher.

**Does cutting the guest list lower the cost per guest?**

It lowers the total, but not always the cost per guest. The Knot's average wedding cost guide notes that some costs are fixed, such as the DJ or photographer, while catering, cake and rentals change with the guest count. With fewer guests, the fixed costs are shared by fewer people, so the cost per guest can go up.
